I know I’ve been MIA for the past few days. Honestly not much has changed. My weight remains at 162 and can’t manage to get to 161. Meanwhile, Gus keeps losing exactly 1 pound per day. He’s at 240 and absolute no snoring. I mean honestly, I had to check several times to make sure he was still alive last night. I couldn’t even hear him breathing. I’m not complaining though. I chalk the fact that he is losing weight faster to the reality that he has more to lose. You will lose the weight faster if you have more weight to lose than someone who is down to their last 10-15 pounds.
The mental urge to eat is still there. Everywhere we go, I feel like we should go to In-N-Out or get sushi or even go get a nice big salad. But no, Gus is keeping me in check. So I’m still doing this thing but the novelty has definitely worn off. This isn’t fun anymore.
Today we went back to Hoa Binh and the coconuts were even cheaper per box. So we loaded up on coconuts and roasted chestnuts, the only things Gus eats and drinks besides his juice.
We find that the cheapest produce is at La Caretta supermarket. So if you have a Mexican supermarket near you, I would check their produce prices before spending all your money at Walmart. Also, Persian and Asian markets have great prices on produce. Perhaps the prices at American supermarkets are higher because they don’t sell as much? That is so SAD (Standard American Diet). Also, you will find a lot more different varieties of fruits and vegetables at these international markets and that is what makes it fun as well.
I will, reluctantly, keep going and report back when I reach 159. Then I’ll have more to say about sticking with it. The annoying issues that have gone away are the grumbling in the tummy and the headaches. Now it’s just a mental thing. Mental hunger! Ugggh.
I’m still adding the Sun Warrior protein to my morning juice sometimes and blending with some chopped frozen banana and a few ice cubes. But I really don’t like the taste of the protein powder. Perhaps I was delusional before when I said it wasn’t bad. It’s pasty and gross. But I find that I can handle a 1/4 scoop in my morning juice as long as it’s blended as mentioned above.
It is nice to have juiced apples once in awhile like Joe did on his 60-day juice reboot so don’t forget to do that once in a while.
I did break down and have a snack yesterday. Apples with almond butter. Not sure if this could be the reason my weight is stagnant. We shall see.

I also tried a new fun vegetable; the purple yam. Three minutes in the microwave. This little yam is really filling! And it’s purple!! And it really is delicious. Along with being a pretty color, the purple yam contains a lot more antioxidants than regular yams. Consuming foods rich in antioxidants may be good for your heart health and may also help to lower your risk of infections and some forms of cancer. I found this yam at H-Mart (an Asian supermarket).

See you again when I hit 159. Bye for now.
